Maurizio Cattelan's art installation, Comedian, a single banana duct-taped to a wall, sold for $6.2 million at Sotheby's in New York.

The artwork was purchased by Chinese cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun. Founder of the Tron blockchain network, he outbid six others and paid in cryptocurrency.

He called the piece a "cultural phenomenon bridging art, memes, and cryptocurrency," and hinted that he plans to eat the banana.
