Belly landing...

Belly landing, an emergency maneuver known as landing on the fuselage, is necessary when a technical issue prevents the deployment of the landing gear.

Pilots must shut down the engines before impact to minimize the risk of fire and land precisely on the runway to prevent the aircraft from veering off course.

Runways are often coated with fire-suppressant foam by ground crews to reduce the risk of sparks.

A notable case is that of LOT Polish Airlines Flight 016 in 2011: a Boeing 767 carrying 231 passengers landed without landing gear in Warsaw following a hydraulic failure.

The pilots executed the emergency procedure flawlessly, skidding on the belly of the aircraft for several hundred meters. Thanks to their composure and the preparedness of the rescue teams, no injuries were reported.

This type of landing, though dramatic, highlights the effectiveness of aviation safety protocols.
