The next 72 hours in Los Angeles are pivotal, as wind speeds are expected to reach 40-60 mph, significantly increasing the risk of wildfire spread, according to the National Weather Service.
Fire crews are focusing on creating containment lines around the Palisades and Eaton Fires, which have already burned over 36,000 acres combined.
With no rain forecasted and humidity levels dropping to 10-15%, these conditions are classified as critical fire weather, leaving more than 180,000 residents evacuated and thousands of structures at risk.
The deployment of 14,000 firefighting personnel, including 1,680 National Guard members, will be crucial to preventing further devastation.
