The survival of palm trees amidst widespread destruction has fueled conspiracy theories. However, experts explain that during wildfires, it's common for trees and isolated structures to remain standing while surrounding areas are destroyed.

This phenomenon occurs because wildfires often spread through flying embers that ignite larger structures, leaving some trees untouched.

Moreover, palm trees are less flammable than other vegetation. Their thick, moisture-rich trunks and minimal lower branches make them less likely to catch fire, especially when wildfires spread through embers that target dry, horizontal structures like homes and shrubs.
