Attorneys are suing to keep 10 migrants out of Guantanamo Bay

Civil rights attorneys sued the Trump administration to stop the transfer of 10 migrants to Guantanamo Bay, arguing it violates their constitutional rights.

Migrants detained at the base reported inhumane conditions, including windowless cells, sleep deprivation, inadequate food and medical care, and physical abuse.

Trump claims Guantanamo can hold up to 30,000 migrants, but his administration has not disclosed details on who is being sent there or their alleged crimes.

At least 50 migrants have already been transferred, with estimates now around 200, making it the first time noncitizens have been held there on civil immigration charges.

Some detainees say they were falsely accused of being gang members, while others fled persecution in their home countries, including an Afghan migrant escaping the Taliban and a Venezuelan tortured for political dissent.
